Andrea Orcel

Andrea Orcel is Group Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit, where he is leading the pan-European bank through a process of digitalisation and simplification, underpinned by an unwavering focus on its clients. He is one of Europe’s leading banking experts, with a proven track record of success in senior roles at several major financial institutions around the world. During his career as a senior investment banker, Andrea Orcel has orchestrated several of the most innovative and complex mergers & acquisitions and capital market transactions globally. After beginning his career at Midland Montagu, Goldman Sachs and Boston Consulting Group, Andrea Orcel spent seventeen years at Merrill Lynch where he progressed through various roles serving the bank’s global market to become Head of Global Origination. Following this, he spent three years at the Bank of America culminating in his role as Executive Chairman of the Investment Bank and President of Emerging Markets. In 2012, Andrea Orcel joined UBS where he served as President of the Investment Bank, CEO of UBS UK and Member of the UBS Group Executive Board. During his six-year tenure at the bank, Andrea Orcel managed diverse businesses across multiple geographies, designed and executed the UBS Investment Bank turnaround transforming it into one of the leading businesses renowned for its efficiency, integrity and winning culture, and established a capital-light, higher-risk growth model which now serves as a blueprint for the industry. In addition to his corporate career Andrea Orcel has served as Member of the Board of UBS Optimus Foundation, Senior Sponsor and Leader for Diversity and Talent Development for UBS Investment Bank and UBS UK. Andrea Orcel graduated with a BA in Economics and Commerce from the University of Rome in 1986 and received his MBA from INSEAD in 1990. He lives with his wife and daughter.
