Executive Overview

Catherine Keating has over three decades of experience in global finance. She has served in C-suite and CEO roles for twenty years at Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE: BK) and JP Morgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) as well as CEO of institutional asset manager Commonfund. Catherine’s experience spans from entrepreneurial — opening new markets, launching products, and introducing new technologies — to large corporate M&A integrations, divestitures and joint ventures. She is recognized for expertise in leadership, management, talent, economics, global markets, traditional and alternative investments, wealth, retirement, and the institutional (B2B) and retail (B2C) sectors. Catherine headed Global Wealth at BNY from 2018-2025 and was a member of BNY’s Executive Committee. She was also the CEO and a Board member of BNY Mellon, N.A., the company’s national bank subsidiary.  Over her tenure, BNY Wealth launched an institutional, proprietary financial planning framework, Active Wealth, a personalized planning tool, AdvicePath, and numerous new digital capabilities, earning multiple industry awards from the Financial Times and Global Private Banker, among others. She also led the company-wide launches of 1BNY, a cross-firm growth initiative, and of BNY Advisors, an institutional multi-asset OCIO division. Prior to BNY, Catherine was the CEO of Commonfund. Before Commonfund, Catherine held a variety of senior positions at J.P. Morgan over two decades, including CEO of Investment Management Americas and CEO of the U.S. Private Bank, as well as serving on the firm’s Executive Committee.  Catherine is a frequent speaker on investment and wealth topics. She has been featured in interviews appearing in The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, the Financial Times, and Institutional Investor, among others. Catherine has also appeared on CNBC, Fox and Bloomberg TV. She has been named one of the 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance by Barron’s, and one of the Most Powerful Women in Finance and one of the Most Powerful Women in Banking by American Banker.  Catherine is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Economic Club of New York. She serves on the boards of the University of Virginia Law School Foundation and the Inner-City Scholarship Fund, and on the Investment Committees of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Helmsley Charitable Trust. She previously served on the boards of Villanova University (including as chair), Santander Bank and Santander Holdings USA. She earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia and a B.A. from Villanova University.
