Dr. Charles Woodburn

I’m proud to lead BAE Systems, the work we do enables our customers to protect people and national security. I graduated from Cambridge with a PhD in Engineering and I feel like I’ve come back to my engineering roots. As such, I’m a supporter of STEM education and I’m proud to be a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. My background is in the oil and gas industry where I spent 15 years with Schlumberger. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work in a number of locations, including the Far East, Australia, France and the United States. I met many interesting and dynamic people from a wealth of cultures during this time, it helped to shape both me and my career. I’m striving to create a culture where we get the best out of everyone and where everyone feels able to be themselves in every way that might be. In so doing we’ll create a more innovative and creative culture. As the proud father of both a girl and a boy, now young adults, I’d hate the idea either of them could face obstacles at work and that’s just one of the many reasons why inclusion matters to me. My team assists with the running of this account, however, I see everything that is posted and check-in regularly.
