My brother Chintu Patel and I founded Amneal Pharmaceuticals over two decades ago. Our vision was inspired by our father, Kanu Patel, an industrial pharmacist who worked as a pharmaceutical regulatory inspector in India. Raised on the Gandhian philosophy of truth and service, our father taught us to achieve prosperity through hard work and by conducting business with honesty and integrity. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1987, I began business pursuits with several information technology start-ups while Chintu followed our father’s footsteps as a pharmacist. During his time as a pharmacist, Chintu witnessed firsthand the struggle many patients had in choosing between buying food or their medication. The desire to provide affordable medicine to patients ignited a passion within both of us, and with our father’s guidance, Amneal was born. Since 2002, we have grown the Amneal family, our portfolio of innovative and affordable medicines, and the company’s impact on the world. Family is not a buzz word here, but rather a through-line of our culture that unites, inspires, gives back and succeeds. Today, alongside our 7,000 colleagues, we’re pursuing a future for Amneal that is focused on what matters most: responsibly helping patients live better lives through high-quality, accessible medications.
