My first retail job was in England at 14 years old pricing products, zoning shelves and working in the backroom. I grew up in a place where no one had much money. When retail is at its best, we bring innovation, we bring happiness to people's lives, and we do it at a great price so people are able to afford what they need to have a good life. I fell in love with retail and have followed it through my whole career. I worked in nine different countries at a number of businesses before stepping into my newest role as CEO of Sam's Club. I believe in creating an environment that encourages curiosity, hope and fun. We can’t succeed without our associates, and that means we need their best – teams that bring new ideas, are brave enough to have opinions on the future, and know what gives them energy.
