Executive Overview

As an executive leader in retail, I have led some of our most exciting business transformation initiatives for complex start-up and growth organizations, spanning domestic and international operations, multibillion-dollar P&L ownership, merchandising, and real estate. In my 30-year+ career, from large store operations to small store formats to corporate strategy, I have been called on to balance multiple priorities, advise senior management with thought leadership, manage both operational details and implement overarching vision, and work across culturally diverse teams and borders. Impossible is not a word in my vocabulary. By tackling problems head on, finding creative solutions, and developing teams to reach supreme results, I have consistently exceeded financial and performance metrics. In my current role, I oversee general merchandising, food and consumer goods, real estate, asset protection, digital and e-commerce, brick and mortar stores, legal, supply chain, HR/people practices, health & wellness, and risk & finance. Working across multiple formats, scales, and growth initiatives, I have delivered successes including the following: -- Grew responsibility from a $16 billion business unit to $112 billion spanning over half of the United States with full ownership of operations, general merchandising and consumer goods, real estate, and people practices. -- Established and grew Small Formats from start-up phase to $4 billion in six years. -- Built e-commerce business substantially from the ground up over four years. -- Steered complex organizational restructuring, market repositioning, and innovation to ensure sustainable business growth and meet evolving consumer needs and digitally driven lifestyles. In leading the largest transformational change in recent retail history — the convergence of physical stores and digital customer experience — I ensured a focus on talent planning, training, and development to enable business leaders to succeed in current and future retail environments. I drive results through talent management, from recognizing individuals to leading cross-functional teams. In building high-performance teams and cultivating a culture of success, I have been effective in sharpening leaders’ business acumen and inspiring fresh thinking to break through resistance to change. I invest heavily in leadership development and have promoted more than eight VPs during my tenure. An avid skier and adventure traveler, I climbed Machu Picchu and Kilimanjaro and completed an Ironman Triathlon.
