I am honored to be Chief Information Officer at Hyatt. I have designed, built, and run many award-winning, large-scale, mission-critical, multi-continent distributed software systems, having served as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Architect at various companies. At Harvard Graduate School Extension, I regularly serve as an invited Guest Lecturer in the graduate course ITSM e599 "Capstone Seminar in Digital Enterprise", and serve on the Faculty Panel. I'm the author of 9 books, including the best-selling Technology Strategy Patterns (O'Reilly, 2018), and the world's first book on Cassandra distributed database, Cassandra: The Definitive Guide (3 editions, 2010), Semantic Software Design, Java SOA Cookbook, and I was a contributor to 97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know. My work has been translated into Chinese, Japanese and Persian. I am a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and have performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
