I serve as Chief Academic Officer for Advocate Health, Executive Vice President for Academic Health Affaire for Wake Forest University, and Dean of Wake Forest University School of Medicine, leading the academic mission of a national health system committed to advancing education, discovery, and clinical innovation in service of better health for all. In these roles, I oversee enterprise-wide academic strategy spanning undergraduate and graduate medical education, graduate medical education, research, and allied health programs. I work closely with faculty and leaders across the system to build integrated academic platforms that translate discovery into practice, expand access to clinical trials and innovation, and ensure that academic excellence meaningfully improves health outcomes for all communities. With more than 25 years of experience in medicine, public health, and epidemiology, I have a track record of fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, strengthening academic learning health systems, and advancing innovation with equity at the center. I am a general internist, physician scientist, and clinical epidemiologist with a focus on translational research. I have been elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation, the Association of American Physicians, the National Academy of Medicine, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. I am deeply committed to developing the next generation of leaders and scholars and to cultivating a culture of excellence, inclusion, and impact across academic medicine.
