Emmanuel Munguia Tapia

Short Bio: Dr. Emmanuel Munguia Tapia is presently a Managing Director in Artificial Intelligence at Accenture Technology where he applies Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Responsible AI and Software Engineering to automate business processes and solve the most challenging problems faced by Accenture's Fortune 500 clients. He received his PhD and MS degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a degree on Engineering Leadership from the University of California Berkeley. Emmanuel has developed artificial intelligence for Alexa at Amazon Lab126, the Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches at Samsung, cognitive wearable computers at Intel, and similar technologies for Nokia Research, Oracle, and Mitsubishi Research. Emmanuel has been the recipient of two 10 year impact awards at the international conferences in Wearable Computing (ISWC) and Ubiquitous Computing (UBICOMP) and the recipient of the Samsung Gold Medal Award for creating the most innovative technology company wide. He holds 38 international publications and 44 patents. Emmanuel has also 17 years of direct experience in technology transfers from research stage to commercial products at Accenture, Amazon, Oracle, Intel, Samsung, Nokia and Mitsubishi Electric. He is also a team leader with skills in project planning, budgeting, execution, and coordination of software development and quality assurance in the U.S. and abroad. He also coordinates external subcontracting, inventions patenting, external publications at international venues and R&D collaborations with top universities such as MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Cornell University, University of Cambridge, EPFL among others.
