Executive Overview

I have spent my career working with law enforcement to improve public safety and advance the cause of equal justice — first at the Department of Justice and now in the private sector. As the current Chief Ethics, Compliance & Security Officer, I oversee the teams at Uber responsible for Trust & Security, Ethics & Compliance, and Political Law. This role combines all our anti-corruption compliance, platform anti-fraud work, and political giving oversight into a single robust function. My role includes management of Uber's global investigations and public safety teams that work to ensure the safety and security of Uber’s people, places, platform, and communities. I am proud to be a part of a dedicated, mission-oriented team made up of former public servants from the military, law enforcement, and intelligence community who work tirelessly to keep Uber riders, drivers, and communities safe. Together, we have secured tens of millions of dollars in fraud savings, identified and taken down human traffickers, thwarted serious criminal activity on the platform and in our communities, and mitigated the impact of significant natural disasters and even war on our riders, drivers, and employees. As Associate Deputy Attorney General and Chief of Staff to Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, I worked across the Justice Department’s various components, divisions, and law enforcement agencies to drive public safety and public policy initiatives, develop big-picture strategies for improving and supporting key DOJ programs, and manage internal crises. I also helped author and administer key criminal justice reform initiatives, such as AG Holder’s Smart on Crime Initiative and President Obama’s Clemency Initiative. Prior to my service in the DAG’s office, I was a trial attorney in the DOJ’s Criminal Division and an Assistant United States Attorney.
