James Upton

My current role as COO for LCH’s RepoClear and Collateral and Liquidity management services compliments my recent roles in forming and running LCH’s Securities and Collateral Middle Office, developing repo and liquidity products for LCH and its Clearing Members in addition to previously leading large, global operations teams at Goldman Sachs. I have broad fixed income experience with a specialism in all aspects of Repo, liquidity and funding as well as a strong equities knowledge. I combine a strong change management and problem solving mindset with an ability to lead global working groups to design and deliver both tactical and strategic initiatives to the benefit of the clients and the industry. I am proficient at leading and executing organisational change via a combination of functional industrialization, business process management and large scale technology programs. Additionally, I am an Operational Risk leader responsible for managing a team that owns Operational Risk for Repo clearing, equities clearing and collateral at LCH. I enjoy taking leading roles in recruitment, diversity and training. I led the delivery of internal training for the Goldman Sachs European Disability Interest Forum as well as the You Matter initiative at LCH. I co-chair the ICMA European Repo Council Operations Group.
