I have spent much of my career on both sides of the technology decision: advising executives and boards on what they should do, then becoming the CIO accountable for making it work.Today, I serve as Chief Information Officer for Barclays UK, leading technology and data across a large, highly regulated banking business. My focus is on improving customer outcomes, strengthening resilience, simplifying complex technology estates, increasing engineering productivity and using AI responsibly at enterprise scale.Before Barclays, I spent nine years at EY as a Partner, including serving as Global Banking & Capital Markets Technology Leader. That experience shaped how I approach technology leadership: start with the customer or business problem, break complexity into decisions that can be executed, make trade-offs explicit, and measure whether the outcome actually improved.Much of my current work focuses on the next generation of enterprise technology: AI-enabled engineering, agentic systems, modern platforms, data foundations, and the architecture, controls and economics required to scale them responsibly.Regulated organisations can move quickly without compromising resilience, security or trust. Regulation is a design constraint, not an excuse for slow execution.I work closely with Boards, executive teams and regulators on technology strategy, AI, resilience, risk and major investment decisions. I care deeply about building strong leadership teams, developing future technology leaders and creating environments where people can challenge complexity and deliver sustainably.The common thread across my career has remained the same: turn complexity into clarity, and clarity into measurable outcomes.
