Jean-François Balaÿ

I have worked for Crédit Agricole Group for over 35 years. I started my career in 1989 at Crédit Lyonnais in the Corporate Banking Markets in London, Paris and Asia. Then I strengthened my expertise in the Origination and Loan Syndication activities, holding several managerial positions, first as Head of Origination for Europe, then for Western Europe within Calyon from 2004. In 2006, I was appointed Deputy Head of Syndication for the EMEA region. In 2009, I became Global Head of Loan Syndication at Crédit Agricole CIB. In 2012, I led the implementation of Crédit Agricole CIB's ‘distribute to originate’ model and then took over as Head of this new business line for 4 years, before becoming Head of Risk and Permanent Control for 2 years. I was appointed Deputy General Manager of Crédit Agricole CIB in 2018 in charge of financing activities and Deputy CEO of Crédit Agricole CIB in 2021. Since May 2025, I am Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole CIB, Crédit Agricole Group's corporate and investment bank, and a member of Crédit Agricole S.A.'s Executive Committee in charge of the large clients division.
