Executive Overview
Jim Peichel is the Chief Technology Officer of Medtronic. With more than 25 years at the company, Jim serves as the enterprise-wide voice of technology. In this role, he leads the Research & Technology (R&T) Council and the Medtronic Technology Advisory Board (MTAB) and co-leads the Medtronic R&D Council. Jim began his career at Medtronic as a Software Engineering Intern and has since held multiple leadership roles across the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and Diagnostics businesses. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Research & Development within Cardiac Rhythm Management, where he also led the Cardiac Implantables Technology Development Center. During this time, he played a critical leadership role in developing the strategy, vision, and execution of CRM’s global digital ecosystem—including cloud, mobile, and data solutions designed to improve patient care. This ecosystem supports patients both at home and in clinical settings across more than 80 countries worldwide. He also previously served as Vice President of R&D for Software Solutions and User Experience. A recognized advocate for talent, diversity, and inclusion, Jim has a strong track record of building high-performing teams and holds numerous technical achievements and patents. His expertise spans the full spectrum of MedTech innovation, with deep experience in digital and data-enabled solutions, product development, market development, commercialization, patient management, hardware and software development, and process simplification.
