Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith is Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer for Travelers. He is responsible for partnering with the businesses and functions across Travelers to drive innovation strategies and priorities company wide. In his capacity, he also chairs the Travelers’ Innovation Council, which is tasked with accelerating and maximizing the impact of innovation at Travelers. In addition, he is a member of the company’s Management and Operating Committees. Smith joined Travelers in 1983 as a software engineer and subsequently served in several key management roles within the technology and specialty underwriting areas. He was named President of Specialized Distribution, leading Northland, Northfield E&S, and National Programs, in 2001. From 2009 until 2018, Smith was President of Travelers International businesses, including operations in Canada, the U.K. and Ireland, Travelers’ Syndicate at Lloyd’s, Brazil, and developing operations in India and China. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2012. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst,Massachusetts.
