Michael Guptan

Michael Guptan is Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Development and Venture Investments at The Trade Desk. Michael is a global finance and strategy executive with over two decades of experience in driving accelerated growth, profitability, and scaling businesses at global organizations including Walmart, Dell Technologies, and McKinsey through deep expertise in financial operations and strategy, corporate development and M&A, capital allocation, and operational execution. Michael has helped scale businesses across Software, Consumer, Media, and Financial Sectors - led or contributed to 120+ high impact M&A & Investment transactions valued at over $100B. At Walmart, Michael played a pivotal role in scaling digital platforms that drive alternative revenue streams - Digital Media and Data Ventures including the acquisition of Vizio for $2.3B; Fintech JV with Ribbit Capital; Supply Chain Automation initiatives (including Symbotic) and E-commerce acquisitions including Zeekit and divestitures including Bonobos to drive growth & optimize profitability. Michael served as the CFO of the US Financial Services business and led initiatives to drive growth and profitability. Michael also led Strategy and Partnerships for Walmart International. At Dell, Michael helped to scale the Software and Security businesses through strategic acquisitions - led Corporate Development, M&A, and Venture Investments for Software, Security and Services businesses at Dell. Key transactions included Acquisition of EMC ($67B), Quest Software ($2.4B), Sonicwall ($1B), Secureworks IPO ($112M), Sale of Dell Software ($2B), Sale of Dell Services to NTT Data ($3.1B). Earlier in his career Michael worked in investment banking and helped scale software companies through M&A and financing transactions. He also worked as a Strategy Consultant at McKinsey. Michael has a B.S. from the IIT, and MBA from The Wharton School of Business.
