Having a liking for IT, which was just starting to have an impact in India at that time, I took an early call to move into the domain that has fascinated me. In Essar, where I have lived through Essar’s journey from a small organization with revenues of USD 4 billion to USD 37 billion & from an organization focusing on Shipping & Steel industry to becoming an Globally recognized Conglomerate with diversification into multiple verticals. My Present role as Group CIO Essar, my responsibilities are Business Transformation enablement by IT, IT Strategy, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Project delivery, Enterprise License Agreements, Green IT & Sustainability, IT Center of Excellence etc. I represent IT on various Function Boards of Business verticals, HR, Finance, M & A, Learning, Audit Committee, etc. I am also responsible for playing the role as a CIO for multiple verticals of Essar Businesses. I also a mentoring to Head IT representatives of a few verticals of Essar. A recipient of many awards like CIO 100, Top 10 CIO of India, Global CIO, CIO Power List etc. I have several published articles in leading magazines as well as in various International media like Case Studies, Technical papers, etc. to my credit. I have been invited by the Govt. of India & prestigious institutions like Nasscom as an expert on various panels like Govt. of India interaction with the Bhutan, etc. I have participated in National & International forums on various topics & under various roles like Jury, Speaker, Expert Panelist & Advisory Council member. Involved in mentoring activities to the upcoming CIO’s of various organizations for building the next generation of leaders in the IT.
