Patrick Morley

For the past 30 years, I’ve helped build and scale early-stage companies into market leaders, playing a role in five IPOs and multiple successful exits. As a current Board Member at high-growth technology companies, I work closely with founders, CEOs, fellow Board Members, and leadership teams on strategy, disciplined scaling, talent strategy, and governance. From 2007 to 2021, I served as CEO of Carbon Black, which I co-founded with Mike Viscuso. We grew the company from a 20-person startup to a global security leader with 1,200 employees, 20,000+ customers, a NASDAQ IPO, and a $2.1 billion acquisition by VMware. I then served as General Manager of VMware’s Security Business Unit. Key milestones included merging with Bit9, completing multiple acquisitions, and successfully transitioning the business to a scalable SaaS model. I’m passionate about working with ambitious leadership teams as a Board Member and Advisor, particularly those scaling high-growth enterprise software and technology companies. My focus areas include global market expansion, go-to-market strategy, competitive positioning, executive team development, and risk oversight. I’m also co-host of the Founder & CEO Podcast with my good friend and Carbon Black co-founder Mike Viscuso, where we explore real-world lessons on building and scaling companies.
