For 20 years I have been building and scaling software engineering organizations inside one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world. Most of what I have done sits at the intersection of three things: modernizing what is legacy, insourcing what should never have been outsourced, and putting AI inside the SDLC so engineering teams ship faster with fewer regressions. What that has looked like in practice:I founded and scaled a global SRE organization from zero, insourcing reliability across a $12B B2B portfolio — 112% EBITDA growth, 200K line churn reduction. I modernized the enterprise customer-success CRM from legacy to AWS cloud-native for 38K reps and 90M annual calls — 25% AHT reduction, 30% response-time improvement. I architected the enterprise IAM platform that authenticates 47M digital customers and 25+ service providers. I deployed Google CCAI across 9.7M B2B interactions with human-in-the-loop governance and responsible-AI guardrails — 30% productivity gains, 36% call deflection, 63% NPS.The throughline: take a complex, high-stakes engineering portfolio that someone else has been running, raise the quality bar, modernize the platform, build the team, and ship. What I care about now is taking that playbook to the next chapter. The companies I would most like to talk to are the ones in the middle of a multi-year modernization, building an AI-integrated engineering culture, or trying to insource reliability and engineering capability they once outsourced. If that is the work you are doing, I would like to hear what you are building.A few signals about how I work: I lead with quality-first delivery, not heroics. I prefer insourced talent over vendor sprawl. I treat AI as engineering infrastructure, not a feature. I make my CIO and executive partners look good in front of their boards. I have been recognized with the Verizon All-In Award (AI initiatives) and the VP Excellence Award (critical platform delivery).Outside the day job, I build. Most recently I shipped a clinical AI prototype over a weekend because the problem was interesting and I wanted to test what is now possible at the edges of the toolchain.Based in Alpharetta, GA. Open to AVP, VP, and Senior Director roles in software engineering, technical product, and engineering modernization — preferably in or around Atlanta.Reach me: konagarip@gmail.com
