As Executive Vice President, Research & Development, and Chief Scientific Officer, I lead a talented global team to discover and develop medicines that have the potential to change lives. From scientists and statisticians to pharmacists and physicians to asset strategy leaders and medical science liaisons, we are collectively responsible for turning our molecules into medicines. Keeping patients at the core of what we do, isn’t just a phrase for our team. It’s what drives us to go beyond the status quo to develop medicines and solutions that can make a real difference in people’s lives. I joined Abbott in 2003 as part of the Physician Development Program. Since then, I have held several positions in clinical development, including group project director, immunology, as well as AbbVie’s vice president of global regulatory affairs and quality assurance. In my current role as the head of Global Therapeutics in R&D, I am also a member of AbbVie’s executive leadership team. Before joining AbbVie, I completed training in Internal Medicine and was a clinical fellow at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. I received my B.S. in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Michigan and my M.D. from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. I am passionate about developing people to expand their careers and become AbbVie’s next generation of leaders.
