Executive Overview
As Co-founder & Group CEO of Olam Group Limited, a global food and agri-business, Sunny is responsible for the overall direction of the Olam Group. Headquartered in Singapore, Olam is one of the top-30 largest listed companies on the Singapore exchange, delivering S$30.5 billion in sales revenues in 2018. Having founded Olam nearly 30 years ago, Sunny leads a business that now operates across more than 60 countries and has a team of 74,500 people, growing, sourcing and processing agricultural products and food ingredients for 19,800 customers worldwide. Under his leadership, Olam aims to address the many economic, social and environmental issues facing the sector with a stated Purpose to Re-imagine Global Agriculture & Food Systems. Through major collaborations and internal initiatives, such as the Re-imagineers programme, Olam aims to achieve a regenerated world where all farmers prosper and communities thrive. Today, Olam and partners are directly supporting 446,000 smallholder farmers in sustainability programmes, helping to improve yields, quality and incomes as well as investing in community initiatives such as health and education. Most recently, Sunny has led Olam in developing one of the most comprehensive sustainable sourcing solutions for B2B customers - AtSource. Representing the culmination of Olam’s extensive social and environmental expertise, and channelled into one transparent and customised digital offer, AtSource can track over 90 indicators for a single ingredient from farm to the customer’s door. In January 2018, Sunny was appointed as Chairman of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). The organisation is led by 200 CEOs who collectively represent 19 million employees from around the globe. He also served as Commissioner of the Business & Sustainable Development Commission (BSDC). Sunny has lived across the world in his career, spending time in India, Nigeria, London, and now in Singapore.
