Tav is an accomplished Finance and Operations executive focused on Real-Estate (both Healthcare and Retail), with both an MBA and CPA (California Inactive). He is currently Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Sunrise Senior Living. His key accomplishments include: LEADERSHIP - Led teams of more than 200 staff reporting to him, across the US and over multiple continents - Built several high performing teams, including URW's Asset Management team, Joint Ventures, and Operations Finance - Led outsourcing of 2/3s of Sunrise's accounting/shared services teams STRATEGY - Led 5 year business planning and strategy for both URW US and Sunrise, with URW's focus on addressing challenges during the "retail apocalypse" and preparing Sunrise for the post-COVID "silver tsunami" - Created and executed disposition strategy and action plan for URW's US portfolio - Partnered with Mckinsey to build MAF's long term growth strategy FINANCE / CAPITAL MARKETS - Led all Board activities for Sunrise, MAF and URW's US JVs - Led investment, debt and cash management strategy for the corporation, including 30+ project development pipeline with over $500M of debt at Sunrise - Led URW's post-merger integration activities including internal and external reporting (including MD&A, and investor presentations) - Prepared/reviewed development and construction analysis for dozens of projects, up to $1B each - Built reporting processes under US GAAP and IFRS, including dashboards/KPIs, board reports, management reports, etc - Led financial systems implementation (IBM TM1 and Hyperion Planning) - Managed complex REIT tax compliance and strategies to minimize tax leakage OPERATIONS - Managed over $200M in redevelopment projects, and development pipeline of 30+ senior housing projects, with a value of over $1B (development, design, and construction) - Direct management of Sunrise's Insurance, development and project management business lines - Launched new solar/sustainability lines of business with potential capital investments of $100M+ - Operational improvements in sales/leasing, marketing, operations, and shared services - Led projects for cost cutting, reorganizations, M&A, and outsourcing - Set leasing vision/strategy, and review/approval of all of URW's US retail and office leases - Led negotiations with banks, retailers and investors on M&A, buyouts, terminations, JV/development agreements, and bankruptcies
