Jayant Acharya, a dynamic leader, currently serves as the Joint Managing Director & CEO at JSW Steel Ltd, holding a pivotal role on the board of directors. With an illustrious career spanning 37 years, Jayant embarked on his steel industry journey in 1986 with SAIL, later joining the JSW Group in 1999. He assumed the CEO role in April 2023, following a successful tenure as Deputy Managing Director. In his previous role, Jayant played a key role in overseeing all company operations and commercial functions. His responsibilities included end-to-end management of the supply chain, sales & marketing activities across diverse markets, and driving digital interventions, new product development, and research and development. His visionary leadership has been instrumental in JSW Steel's remarkable organic and inorganic growth, making it the largest steel and coated steel producer in India, with operations spanning India, Europe (Italy), and the USA. Jayant is a recognized industry voice, actively promoting sustainable steel production and consumption for the advancement of modern society. His exceptional contributions have garnered prestigious accolades, including being honored as one of the 'Greatest Marketing Influencers' by BBC Knowledge in India, the 'Visionary CEO' of the year 2023 in the Steel Industry, and the 'Steelies India 2018' award for excellence from Steel and Metallurgy Magazine. Beyond his role at JSW Steel, Jayant holds influential positions, serving as a board member in 'World Steel,' a member of the National Committee of CII, and co-chairing the steel committee of CII. Academically, he holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Physics from Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani, India, along with a Master's in Business Administration.
