Greg Maffei

Greg Maffei is an accomplished business leader who has helped shape the media, technology, sports, and entertainment industries. From 2005 to 2024, Maffei served as President and CEO of Liberty Media Corporation, where he drove shareholder value building, transforming, and running businesses to compete in today’s digital and mobile era. Under Maffei’s leadership, Liberty completed the acquisition of or investment in leading businesses, including the Atlanta Braves, Charter Communications, DirecTV, Formula 1, Live Nation Entertainment, and SiriusXM. During Maffei’s tenure, Liberty’s composite value increased at a compounded annual growth rate of 17%, compared to 11% for the S&P 500, representing an 18x absolute return. Maffei serves as Chairman of the Board of QVC Group, Sirius XM, and Tripadvisor. He is also a director of Zillow. He formerly served as Chairman of Live Nation, as well as a director of Charter Communications, Barnes & Noble, Citrix, DirecTV, Dorling Kindersley, Electronic Arts, and Starbucks. He was also Chairman of Atlanta Braves Holdings, Expedia, Formula 1, and Starz. Maffei’s leadership philosophy is built on intellectual curiosity, team building, and humor. He is experienced in building world-class teams to drive innovation and performance, while fostering collaboration and maintaining a positive culture. Before joining Liberty Media, Maffei was Co-President of Oracle, CEO of 360networks Corporation, and CFO of Microsoft Corporation. Previously, he worked at Citicorp Venture Capital and was an investment banker. Maffei holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He earned an A.B. from Dartmouth College, where he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
