Hang Tan

Hang Tan is a technology executive with 20 years of experience in strategy, operations, and finance. He has a track-record of success in driving holistic shareholder value creation through organic & inorganic growth, financial strategy, and operational excellence at the world’s leading enterprises. Hang has deep industry expertise in enterprise IT, cloud, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and venture capital. Hang currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Hybrid Cloud division of Hewlett Packard Enterprise – a global IT infrastructure, software and services company focused on providing cloud, artificial intelligence, data management, and networking solutions, with ~60k employees and ~$30B (FY2024) in revenues. As the COO for HPE Hybrid Cloud, Hang is responsible for setting business unit strategy and driving operational execution & transformation across all aspects of the business, including GTM enablement, ecosystem partnerships, product portfolio & life-cycle management, pricing & packaging, and services. Prior to becoming the COO of HPE Hybrid Cloud, Hang served as the Chief Strategy Officer of HPE, where he partnered with HPE’s CEO and CFO to develop and obtain Board approval for HPE’s corporate strategy and value creation plan. As head of Corporate FP&A, Hang was responsible for translating HPE’s strategy into a financial plan and actively managed fiscal execution to deliver the plan. As head of Corporate Business Development and Ventures, Hang was responsible for strategic partnerships with major ecosystem partners and directed HPE’s venture investments into disruptive technologies to inform M&A and to bring bleeding-edge innovation to HPE customers . In addition, Hang also led HPE’s cost transformation program which delivered $1B+ in cost savings and generated investment capacity to found big strategic bets such as HPE’s flagship cloud offering – HPE Greenlake Edge-to-Cloud Platform. Prior to joining HPE, Hang was a Partner at Bain & Company – a leading management-consulting firm with ~13k employees serving clients across 63 offices in 38 countries. At Bain, Hang helped some of the world’s leading technology companies tackle their toughest strategy, operational, and product development challenges. Hang previously served in Board Observer roles at Classiq, early-stage startup that develops quantum algorithm design software; and Pachyderm, AI startup which has been acquired by HPE.
