Howard Ungerleider

An accomplished Fortune 100 President, Chief Financial Officer, Executive, and public company Board Director with 30+ years of senior-level leadership, operational and financial experience.Howard served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Dow, a global materials science company with 2022 sales of approximately $57 billion, and was a member of Dow’s most senior executive committee. Howard currently serves as an Operating Advisor for Clayton, Dubilier, & Rice, has been a public company board director for more than 10 years. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL), a leading global airline, Air Products (NYSE: APD), a leading industrial gases supplier, and Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider.Under Howard’s leadership as President and CFO, Dow tripled free cash flow per share, increased EBITDA by $1 billion on a trailing 3-year average, reduced liabilities by $15 billion, and increased Dow’s return on invested capital by 600 basis points, while earning recognition for Dow as one of Fortune’s World’s Best Workplaces, an exclusive group of just 25 companies.Previously, Howard served as Chief Financial Officer of DowDuPont, an $86 billion holding company comprised of The Dow Chemical Company and DuPont. Howard led the successful spin-outs of three new companies to create Dow, DuPont, and Corteva. Today, the three companies have a combined market capitalization of over $100 billion. Howard’s extensive M&A leadership experience includes leading the Dow Corning restructuring negotiation and successful integration into Dow, doubling the earnings contribution of silicones in the first 18 months post close.Since 1990, Howard’s career has spanned a wide variety of business and enterprise-level leadership roles. He brings more than 25 years of global P&L accountability, more than 15 years of strategic Board and investor engagement, and more than 10 years of executive functional leadership experience, including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Public and Government Affairs, Investor Relations, and Finance.Howard is the former chairman of the Dow Company Foundation and holds board positions with the Michigan Baseball Foundation and The Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation. He is immediate past chair of the board of the Business Leaders for Michigan business roundtable.Howard earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Austin and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California in Los Angeles.
