Juan has over 15 years of experience in leading programs, projects, and teams in Information Security, Cybersecurity, IT Risk and Controls, and IT Audit. He has also served in the military for over 20 years, both on active duty and in the reserves. Currently, he is an Information Professional Officer in the United States Navy Reserve, specializing in Information Warfare and Cyber Warfare, with a focus on both offensive and defensive naval cyber operations. Juan specializes in technology risk and controls advisory engagements. He has worked with various clients and organizations across multiple industries, including Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Insurance. He possesses extensive knowledge and experience in the private sector, particularly in Fintech, Biotech, Digital Health Technology, Operational Technology (OT), Digital Ledger Technology, Digital Assets Technology, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Juan effectively combines technical expertise with business acumen to execute projects and advisory engagements related to technology product development, technical vetting, due diligence consulting, system security reviews, and technology risk and controls assessments. He collaborates with legal, regulatory, security, development, and operations teams to achieve successful outcomes. Juan has led programs, projects, and advisory engagements worldwide, working with a wide range of technologies, including AWS and Azure Cloud, private and public blockchains, digital asset platforms, connected medical devices, SCADA, and PLC OT devices, as well as AI applications that utilize Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Generative AI. Juan holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Cyber Forensics and Security from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), a Bachelor of Science in Information Security and Risk Management, and a degree in Management of Information Systems and Finance from Lewis University. In addition to his formal education, he has earned several certifications, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and CompTIA Security+ certification.
