Steven Newson

I'm a Founding employee and the Group CTO at Starling Bank, a startup mobile-first UK bank. I have over 20 years of experience designing and leading large scale deployments of high performance software installations. Since 2015, I have been instrumental in the design and building of Starling from being the first code committer, through hiring and overseeing the entire technology function, to running the operations function. I have functional and technical expertise in both Retail and Commercial banking with particular specialist knowledge in Core Banking, Cards and External Systems Integration. I have proven abilities to build and lead outstanding engineering teams, and a track record in creating and executing a strategic technical vision with an emphasis on commercial and business aspects.
