An Garda Síochána

The role of Executive Director Human Resources and People Development was established in 2014 at the level of Assistant Secretary General - Department of Justice and Equality. The Human Resources and People Development function within An Garda Síochána, (the Irish National Police Service), supports a cadre of more than 15,500 employees, composed of sworn officers, civilian staff and Garda reserves. With an annual budget of 1.4 billion euros, An Garda Síochána provides a broad range of policing and national security services to the Irish Government and people and contributes to the overseas missions of both the EU and UN. Supporting a dispersed staff in a network of Regions, Divisions and Districts, the HR function of An Garda Síochána is composed of staff drawn from a wide variety of professional and administrative backgrounds and is made up of both sworn and civilian members. The HR and People Development function is committed to enhancing key systems, process and procedures in the organisations' existing service delivery model.
